Metering - Meter Fitting

Often overlooked, efficient and effective metering is fundamental to the success of competitive gas and electricity markets. Furthermore, the ever-increasing demand for limited water resources means that domestic water metering is likely to become the rule rather than the exception. Some water companies in England have already received permission to introduce compulsory water metering.

Modern utility meters are designed to be sturdy, reliable and accurate. Installation is relatively straightforward, but needs to be undertaken conscientiously by qualified installers to avoid errors and potential contamination.

The key to Turriff's success as a meter installer is its site and back office systems which track and record its meter installations, providing timely and accurate data for gas shippers and water companies.

Turriff has been an Ofgem Approved Gas Meter Installer (OAMI) since 2003, and has also installed both commercial and domestic water meters.

Turriff is monitoring developments in the electricity sector. As soon as there is a viable commercial opportunity to fit electricity meters, Turriff will undertake the necessary investment in training and equipment. Turriff is already in the process of seeking NERS accreditation for electricity connections.
