The awards ceremony for 2008/09 was held on the 29th May and was very well attended by Roads Contractors and Utility Companies - Awards are given to the Best Utility Contractor, the Best Roads Contractor a Peoples Award and Most Improved Contractor.
Utility excavations have never been more financially challenging. It now costs £6/tonne to send excavated spoil to landfill – an increase of 100% from 2006 – and bedding materials (fines) for pipes and grade one fill are ever more expensive.
Active monitoring is fundamental to good safety management. It seeks to collect accurate information which forms the basis for practical decisions to drive improved safety performance.
